The annual Oyster Festival in Oyster Bay claims to be the largest waterfront festival on the East Coast. Numbers aside, it’s the most enjoyable waterfront festival! This year’s event takes place Saturday, October 14 and Sunday, October 15 from 11:00 am through 6:00 pm (rain or shine).

With tall ships, music, contests, midway rides, sports clinics, pirate shows, and artisans showcasing their work, there’s plenty to see, hear, do, and buy at the festival. In addition, thanks to the efforts of culinary pros and talented volunteers, there’s even more to eat! Food choices start with oysters and end with zeppoles. In between, there’s shrimp corn chowder, lobster mac and cheese, Chinese dumplings, falafel, empanadas, Frito chili pie, fried pickles, and bubble tea. (Save room for the oyster eating and shucking contest.)

Oyster FestivalThe festival is a fundraising project of the Oyster Bay Rotary Club to support local charities. Transient space is available within walking distance — reserve a mooring at OB Marine Center (516-624-2400 or VHF channel 71) or Sagamore Yacht Club at (516-922-0555 or channel 78). Always confirm availability before you set out.
