Most of us reach into the refrigerator and pantry from time to time in search of a quick beauty fix. Whether it is for cucumbers to place on puffy eyes or oatmeal to fashion into a face mask,   we may look a little silly, but know these tricks work. In fact, scientific studies have uncovered the potent potential of fruits, vegetables, and other food items for beauty-enhancing applications.  Cosmetics and beauty companies also recognize that foods don’t only nourish from the inside out — scan the labels of numerous lotions, sprays, and powders and you’ll see ingredients from nearly every major food group. Some aisles may have you thinking you are at the farmers market instead of a drug or department store!

If you’re interested in going beyond just eating your way to a glowing complexion and shiny hair, I’ve selected a few fresh-picked favorites from different food groups for you to check out.
