Nicoll Bay

February 1, 2014 by · Leave a Comment

Nicoll Bay is situated between Heckscher State Park and West Sayville on the northern side of the Great South Bay.  Known to locals as an area to drop anchor and relax, Nicoll Bay provides panoramic views of Heckscher State Park and West Sayville.

Most of the bay averages between seven and nine feet of water at slack tide, so you will have plenty of water if you want to spend the day at anchor.  But don’t try to anchor at the shoreline, as you will run aground during slack tide!  Nicoll Bay also serves as the entrance for the Connetquot River, so while there are no facilities within the bay, you can find both fuel and food along the river.
